Feagan Makes | Statement §y friends have urged that I 8 before the public the ideals :h I have strongly supported a few of the things which I have done, first, as a citizen and later as a citizen and member of the Polk County Board of Commis sioners to improve public interest in our County. Since childhood I have lived in Polk Co. and upon reaching maturity I became affili ated with the Democratic Party. As a member and representative of the party I have made every effort to see that the interests of the entire population of Polk County were best .served. To the party members I wish to say that I have always "voted a Democratic ticket and I will continue to do so. Better educational opportunities for our children have always been *of my chief interests. A% a ber of the Polk County School? d from 1926 to 1928, I was instrumental in the construction of the Sunny View school build ing, and a large portion of the Stearns building in Columbus. During this period many improve ments to the other white and col ored school buildings throughout the County were made. For almost twelve years I have terved as chairman of the Polk County Board of Commissioners. During this period an adequate school building was built at Mill Spring. Unfortunately this build ing was destroyed by fire, but has now been replaced by a completely modern school building. The fi nancing of the new building was _Continued on Page Two..„... PLEASE REGISTER ON MONDAY FOR SUGAR ! Instructions for sugar registra tion for individuals of Tryon, Lynn, Saluda and vicinity. Hours for registration : For Try on, Lynn and Saluda: Monday, May 4th, 9 a. m., to 5 p. m.; Tuesday, Mlay 5th, 3 p. m. to 5 jp. m.; Wednesday, May 6th, 3 p. m., to 5 p. m.; Thursday, May 7th, 3 p. m., to 5 p. m. Everyone, white and colored are urged to register on Monday, May 4th, between the hours of 9 a. m.. and 5 p. m. The schools have been askej to take care of the registration and this cannot be done for four consecutive days without seriously interfering with school work. One whole day, Mon day, has been set aside by the Tryon white, Tryon colored, Lynn school, an^ the Saluda school to take care of the bulk of the popu lation. On Monday around 25 registrars will be on hand at the Tryon school to take care of the 4,000 people expected to register. In Tryon on the other days, only a few registrars will be available. If you do not want to wait in line, please come on Monday to either the Tryon white, Tryon colored, Lynn, or Saluda school whichever school district you are in. FIRST AID CLASS There will be a first aid ciass organized at the Tryon colored school on Tuesday evening at 8 p. m. All those that are interested are expected to be present. J. A. Tillman, Principal.
